Dr. David L. Cooke grew up in Berrien Springs and graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1976 from Berrien Springs High School. He then entered the accelerated Pre-Med Interflex Program at the University of Michigan, receiving his undergraduate degree with honors in 1981 and his M.D. one year later.

He interned in Ann Arbor from 1982 to 1983 and practiced one year before completing an ophthalmology residency at Mayo Clinic. In 1987, Dr. Cooke and his wife, Jeannette, moved back to Michigan to take over the practice of retiring physician Dr. O’Toole. He and Jeannette have three sons — Matthew, Timothy, and Joshua — and are active members of Berrien Center Bible Church.

Dr. Cooke is an avid researcher and influential member of the international ophthalmology community. He has over 100 published articles with more than 1,881 citations, has presented at ophthalmology conferences more than 30 times, and has received multiple awards. He is a member of the illustrious IOL Power Club, which advances the science of cataract lens selection and technology.

He is honored to serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Michigan State University.
