Clinical Research
Through carefully monitored clinical trials, our patients can access promising new treatments before they’re widely available — and help advance the future of eye care.

Great Lakes Eye Care takes part in FDA-monitored clinical research studies across a range of eye conditions. These trials test new medications and therapies under close supervision, following strict safety standards.
For patients, research can open a door to emerging treatments that aren’t yet available elsewhere. Participation is always voluntary, and our team explains every study clearly so you can decide what’s right for you.
We take part in clinical research to gain early experience with treatments and devices that may become tomorrow’s tools for treating eye disease. That experience stays with our doctors long after a study ends.
Participation can vary from a few weeks to several months, depending on the specific trial.
Studies are offered at different times throughout the year. If you’re interested in participating in a study for a particular condition, please contact our study coordinator for more information about current and upcoming opportunities.
Every study has a specific set of requirements for eligibility. These might include age, medical history, and diagnosis. Consult with your doctor to determine if you’re a good fit for an ongoing or an upcoming study.
All studies are FDA-monitored and follow strict safety protocols. Our team reviews the details, risks, and benefits with you thoroughly before you decide, and participation is always your choice.
Study-related care is typically provided at no cost to participants, and some trials offer compensation. We’ll go over the specifics of any study you’re considering.
