Retinal Services

The retina is the light-sensing tissue at the back of your eye — and when it’s affected, clear vision depends on prompt, specialized care. Our retina services combine advanced imaging with targeted treatment.

The retina lines the back of the eye and turns light into the signals your brain reads as sight. When disease, aging, or diabetes affects the retina, it can blur or distort your central vision — the vision you use to read, drive, and recognize faces.

Many retinal conditions respond very well to treatment, especially when they’re caught early. Using detailed imaging of the back of your eye, we can find problems before they cause lasting damage and treat them with precision.

Conditions We Treat

Common retinal conditions

Macular Degeneration

Age-related changes to the central retina (the macula) that blur the sharp, straight-ahead vision you rely on most. Early management can help preserve vision.

Diabetic Eye Disease

Diabetes can damage the tiny blood vessels of the retina. Regular monitoring and timely treatment are key to protecting sight.

Retinal Tears & Detachment

When the retina tears or pulls away from the back of the eye. This is urgent — prompt treatment offers the best chance of preserving vision.

How We Help

Precise diagnosis, targeted treatment

Advanced retinal imaging

High-resolution scans that reveal the layers of the retina in remarkable detail.

Injectable medications

Modern therapies that can slow, stabilize, and in some cases improve certain retinal conditions.

Laser treatment

Focused laser to seal retinal tears and treat abnormal blood vessels.

Ongoing monitoring

Careful follow-up to catch changes early and adjust your plan as needed.

Emerging Treatment

Valeda Light Therapy for dry macular degeneration

For patients with dry age-related macular degeneration and early retinal changes, we offer Valeda Light Therapy — a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to support the cells of the retina. It is the first therapy of its kind available for dry AMD, a condition that for years had no treatment options at all.

Sessions are brief and comfortable, with no injections and no surgery. Our retina team can tell you whether Valeda is a reasonable addition to your care plan.

Common Questions

Questions patients ask

How do I know if I have a retinal problem?

Warning signs include new floaters, flashes of light, a shadow or curtain across your vision, or blurred and distorted central vision. If you notice these, contact us promptly.

I have diabetes. How often should my eyes be checked?

Most people with diabetes should have a dilated eye exam at least once a year, and sometimes more often. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your health.
